Fashion and Fundraising

We were so blessed to have Stacy Brunell, stylist with Nordstrom's come and speak to us about personal style.  She gave us so much insight into how to make shopping and getting dressed less stressful.  If you would like to have a personal session with her she can be reached by phone at 9004-672-2200 or through email at stacy.brunell@nordstrom.com

Types of Closets
1. Hoarder
- When you have too much in your closet, it makes you overwhelmed
- Rule of a thumb is a year - If you haven’t worn it, bless someone else with it!

2. Uniform
- When you have too much of the same stuff
- 14-22 pairs of one item- too much
- Getting dressed is much easier when you have less options

3. Few Cool Random Pieces
- When you compile cool stuff but can’t coordinate outfits
- Make sure you can wear it/style it in multiple ways

4. Broken Mirror
- When you don’t wear/only wear certain things because of how you think you look
- Remind yourself of how beautiful you are no matter size or look
- Something out there for everyone
- Feeling confident is a game changer

Staple Pieces
- Jeans/denim
- White denim pants
- Black pants
- White shirt
- Leather jacket
- Denim jacket
- Blazer
- Few pairs of solid shoes (sneakers, wedges, pumps)
- Few well-priced trendy items
- Good, well-fitted bra

Basic Rules
- “Basically throw out a lot of your rules”
- Navy and black go together
- White on white ok
- Two colors of denim is personal preference
- Denim is acceptable all the time, dinner, out, etc. (wear a less distressed look for dressier occasions)
- Nice (nude) camisole under see-through white shirts
- Get a commando thong you can’t see through (no lines)

Tips:
- With denim, try on two of the same size even of the same brand bc the cut of the denim can be different
- If your daughter can wear it, probably not for you
- Buy versatile pieces!!!
- Colored denim is in now, unfinished ends
- Cargo pants, army green
- Veronica Beard - blazer with zip out dickie
- Joggers are in right now
- Theory black pants (flattering for everyone, get altered)
- Alterations are your friend!
- Go to Target for transition clothes during this time in life before you buy investment pieces
- Looks and designers fit differently on different body types
- Allison Olivia - petite, doesn’t work on everyone
- Samone pant little stretch go-to for multiple types
- Secret: Biz and laundry detergent for getting whites clean
- High/low dressing - pairing a more expensive piece with a less expensive item
- Focus on staple investment prices and supplement with cheaper items throughout this season
- Accessories - less is more; no matchy matchy; depends on the customer
- Fun part about fashion - it becomes who you are
- Summer uniform in Florida - bathing suit and coverups; find what brand works for you and fits
- Athleta, nip tuck and spanx brand bathing suits
- Shorts can be difficult because of where they hit you on your leg; find a pair or brand that fits well and buy a few of them

Our largest fundraiser of the year, Shrove Tuesday was a huge success again.   A huge thank you to Lauren Thompson and Ashly Rivera for coordinating and making the even run so smoothly.

A kids table kept all the children entertained during the dinner.

Ruth, Vanessa, Brittany, Bunny, Lori Ann, Jan, and Andrea serving up pancakes

Thank you to all the people who came out to support us.

We continue to partner with Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless as our outreach partner.  We had a wonderful time adding decorations to brighten up their home for spring.
