Home organization

Our meeting on Home Organization was so helpful.  Karen Duncan, a certified professional organizer gave us different tips and strategies to use to get started.  The first step is to envision what the space will look like and ask yourself what you like about the space.  Next declutter items by category.  Questions to ask yourself to help decide include: Do they fit the new vision? Where do they land in the new space plan? Identify what is currently important? Does it deserve "real estate" in the new space? Do the items: fit/meet your needs/are go to items/you like to use or wear/have duplicates?  After evaluating the items, toss, donate or sell them.  Through determining the function of each space, it can help to determine which type of storage containers maybe most helpful.  If you're getting stuck in organizing, revisit the vision, look at your belongings objectively, remove what doesn't contribute to your goal, keep what you love and fits your vision, and consult with your organizer or designer.  Once a space is organized, keeping it maintained can be helped through labeling things and using pictures or clip art for young children.
